James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
Thanks for Coming Into the Woods with Us!
Putting on Into the Woods was a truly special experience for all of us at Hometown Arts Troupe, and we couldn’t be more proud of how it turned out. From the first day of rehearsal to closing night, this show was full of heart, hard work, and a whole lot of laughter.
A huge thank you to our amazing cast for bringing these fairy tale characters to life with so much energy, creativity, and talent. You made every scene memorable and every song magical. To our crew and production team—you’re the real heroes of the story. Your behind-the-scenes work made everything run smoothly, from the lighting and sound to the costumes and set pieces.
We also want to thank all the families, friends, and community members who supported us—whether it was by volunteering time, donating supplies, spreading the word, or just showing up and cheering us on. Every bit of support made a difference.
And finally, to our wonderful audiences: thank you for being part of the adventure. Your applause, your laughter, and your presence meant the world to us. We hope you enjoyed the journey through the woods as much as we did.
This show reminded us why we love doing theatre. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
